Police Tear-Gas Brazil Fare Hike Protesters

Written By Unknown on Rabu, 28 Januari 2015 | 23.11

A protest about the rising cost of fares in Brazil's busiest city led to riot police firing tear gas into the underground train system.

Police fired gas and used batons to disperse demonstrators who were blocking the turnstiles at the Faria Lima metro station in Sao Paulo.

They were part of the Free Fare Movement (MPL) protest group who are angry at the rising cost of fares.

A scuffle then occurred between the police and the protesters, which ended in four people being arrested.

One protester was injured, according to a report.
