The American Army psychiatrist sentenced to death for the Fort Hood shooting rampage has been forcibly shaved.
Major Nidal Hasan was convicted last month for the shooting at the Texas military base that left 13 dead and 30 wounded, and sentenced to death.
The 42-year-old Muslim began growing a beard in the years after the November 2009 massacre.
The beard prompted delays to his court-martial because it violated Army grooming regulations.
Texas legislators have proposed compensation for the victims' families Hasan said at the time that he grew the beard because his faith required it, and he meant no disrespect.
An Army spokesman at Fort Leavenworth, where Hasan is on death row, said the inmate had been shaved according to Army regulations.
Hasan dispensed with all criminal defence counsel and represented himself during his trial.
He admitted that he had carried out the killings, saying he was a soldier who "switched sides" in a war.
Meanwhile, Texas legislators have proposed a new compensation bill for the shooting victims, according to The Dallas Morning News.
